It now seems an eternity since we embarked on our epic journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Many things have happened since then and we want to give you an update to let you know where some of your sponsorship money has been spent. The money we raised through sponsorship and your generosity was a staggering 80,000stg!

You will remember our mission was to build a desperately needed secondary school in the Amboseli region of Kenya to accommodate the four primary schools with which we have been working over the past three years in this area. We are very proud to announce that the first phase of Lenkisem Secondary School has now been completed and comprises a fully equipped secondary school classroom, staff room, toilet block and fencing. It is pleasing to note that the community members through the group ranch contributed to the purchase of the stationery for the school.

The new secondary students are already being taught in this new premise by two trained teachers and one untrained teacher.

Our plan was to visit the school and perform the official opening early May but due to the dreaded Ash Cloud from Iceland, we only made it as far as Amsterdam and had to abort our journey. We will be going again in October and will then perform the opening ceremony and should have plenty of photographs to show you.

The Schools for Kenya team are continuing to raised funds and look forward to building the next phase of the new secondary school at the end of the year and will continue this process each year until we have four classrooms as secondary education is a four year undertaking.

Our Child Sponsorship Program is also going well. We now have a total of 59 children being sponsored. This again, is down to you, your big hearts and your generosity.
